Critical Thinking Learning Modules
19 proven online instructional learning modules help learners build their critical thinking skills and increase their consistent motivation to apply those skills where they count: to problem-solving and decision-making in every facet of their lives. Reflective thinking exercises are designed to practice skills and help develop the habits of mind of a strong critical thinker. Taken together, these modules cover all of the critical thinking skills and mindset attributes needed in today’s workplace.
The modules can be conducted in groups or independently to support active learning. Group sessions add the potential for additional discussion and shared insights, helpful for integrating content, practicing thinking skills and building habits of mind.
Critical Thinking Skills and Mindset Assessment
A two part diagnostic assessment objectively measures the thinking mindset and reasoning skills of course participants. The online, validated assessment is aligned with the complete set of 14 thinking mindset attributes (keys) and reasoning skills (strategies). Individual and group reports are provided.
Critical Thinking Keys measures 8 thinking mindsets including truth-seeking, open-mindedness, confidence in reasoning and inventiveness.
Critical Thinking Strategies measures 6 thinking skills including analytical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reasoning with uncertainty and overall reasoning strength.
Keys & Strategies critical thinking assessments identify individual and group strengths and weaknesses. Numerical and categorical interpretation of strength are reported for each of the key aspects of critical thinking.
Group reports display aggregated statistics and bar-charts for each metric. An individual printable test-taker report documents the scores of test-taker, giving participants the opportunity to focus on self-improvement.
The user manual provides faculty with all needed information for using the course pack and guiding students to maximize their active learning experience. Useful strategies for active learning in all settings are discussed.
