Yes.  Critical thinking has been identified by the CJCS as a DLA for officers and enlisted personnel. PME is addressing critical thinking through new educational programming.  Educators know that the most important way to emphasize the significance of any learning outcome is to measure it.  Therefore, absolutely, the valid, objective, and efficient measurement of critical thinking will contribute strongly to the improvement of leadership at all levels.

The Military and Defense Critical Thinking Inventory (MDCTI)  is an academically oriented assessment intended for use with undergraduate and graduate level enrollees or applicants to military education programs and colleges  to screen for the reasoning skills that are essential for effective leadership decision making and problem solving as well as the mindset attributes associated with successful leadership.

INSIGHT Defense Professional is a professionally oriented test calibrated for officers, senior NCOs, and civilian managers with operational planning and leadership responsibilities in staff or line positions. It provides valuable objective metrics for the prescreening evaluations of applicants and new employees, and for ongoing staff development programs focused on strengthening decision making competencies.

High stakes thought processes are critical in the military. All branches of our military services have used MDCTI or INSIGHT Defense metrics to target and evaluate educational programs that prioritize developing decisions skills based on solid mindsets.  Contact us to discuss incorporating assessment into your programs.
