Success
in high school and college courses and professional fields in STEM
(science, mathematics and engineering) disciplines requires strong
quantitative reasoning skills. The Quant-Q targets reasoning
skills in relation to quantitative problems. While the questions
can be challenging, the actual mathematical knowledge required for
this instrument is basic. The instrument is designed to measure
one's ability to think beyond the cancellations themselves in order
to reason to the proper applications of those calculations. The
questions on the Quant Q require a more complex integration of
critical thinking skills and quantitative reasoning abilities.
The Quant-Q is ideal for:
*
high school students who are college bound
* undergraduate students
* graduate students
* professionals in quantitatively oriented fields
* people with
strong mathematical aptitude or interests
The
Quant-Q is a 28 item standardized test that is designed for use
in a 50 minute time frame. Programs
in Mathematics, Statistics, the Physical and biological sciences,
engineering, computer science, and architecture, as well as business
schools will find the Quant Q particularly useful. This tool is
available in our encrypted on-line e-testing
system, or in paper-&-pencil format.
Internal
consistency ratings: Depending on circumstances of testing:
(KR-20) for the Quant Q range from 0.78 to 0.86.
Concurrent Validity: Preliminary research indicates that the
Quant Q correlates highly with the California
Critical Thinking Skills Test (r = 0.731).
