Because the testing tools sold through Insight Assessment are used for a variety of high stakes assessment, evaluation, and research projects, test security is vitally important. The capacity of the user to correctly administer the testing instruments and to correctly interpret the data and scale scores is equally important for the quality of the findings which derive from their use. Because of considerations like these, Insight Assessment reserves the right not to honor purchase or use requests. On the other hand, in support of the development of new scholars and the expansion of our scientific understanding of critical thinking and human reasoning, we do wish to encourage doctoral students, and occasionally masters students, to use our assessment tools, provided that test security is assured, that the tools will be administered correctly, and that resulting data will be analyzed and interpreted correctly and responsibly.

Graduate students conducting research under supervision of a faculty member, including thesis and dissertation research wishing to use the assessment tools published by California Academic Press LLC must submit a letter describing the project and a support letter from the faculty member who is the student's project supervisor / advisor / thesis or dissertation director.

    Faculty Supervisor's Letter
    (1)
should be on the institution's letterhead and should include
    (2) should include the name, title, and institutional affiliation of the faculty member [e.g. Dr. Susan Smith, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology College of Arts and Sciences, Loyola University],
    (3)
a statement in which the faculty member affirms that she or he is working with you or supervising or advising or directing you on the specific project for which you are purchasing testing materials,
    (4) the name of the project, or title of the thesis or dissertation, and a one or two sentence description.
    (5)
a statement that the faculty member takes responsibility, along with you, for the security of the testing materials, and
    (6)
an acknowledgment that the testing materials are protected by US and international copyright laws and are the intellectual and scholarly property of the copyright holders.

Insight Assessment will accept orders and credit card information, but we do not ship testing materials until the faculty member's letter has been received.

    Graduate Student's Letter
You should send a letter or an e-mail which includes at least the following
    (1) the name of your faculty supervisor whom you have asked to send the faculty letter described above,
    (2) the title and a very brief description of your project, thesis, or dissertation,
    (3) a rough estimate of the quantities of tests you may be using and the time frame for your use of those materials [e.g. "Although my plans could change, at this point I expect to use the CM3 Level II and the HSRT on-line to gather pretest and posttest data from 50 subjects during the coming academic year."]
    (4) a statement that you will safeguard the security of all testing materials, and
    (5) an acknowledgment that the testing materials are protected by US and international copyright laws and are the intellectual and scholarly property of the copyright holders

    (6) contact information in case we need to be in touch with you for any reason relating to your order(s) or the scoring, use, or interpretation of the testing materials.

Doctoral students: Insight Assessment will sell directly to doctoral students engaged in dissertation research.

Masters degree students: Make arrangements with your sponsoring faculty advisor for that advisor to purchase instruments.

Further Restrictions: We do not sell or supply tests to graduate students for purposes of classroom psychometric or educational analysis, evaluation, or critique.

Insight Assessment reserves the right not to sell to students enrolled in programs which use its tools for high stakes assessment.
