Some schools, like Sefton College in Liverpool UK, offer General Studies as an A-level course for high achievers. Students convene for one lesson per week throughout the year, learning skills like "constructing arguments,"  beneficial for "those who will have a career in putting the case for or against some issue: in science, law, media, history, business and politics, to mention just a few."
