Training CT Skills in Physical Education Classes
Ron McBride, Professor of Kineseology at Texas A&M, has made the case that the Physical Education setting is ideally suited for training critical thinking skills and habits of mind. In some creatively designed exercises he explains how he observed students expressing their disposition to think critically and using their thinking skills to accomplish the physical tasks required to complete the exercise. The important message is that the teacher must guide the learning to assure the opportunity for growth in critical thinking. The paper is entitled: "If you structure it...they will learn: Critical thinking in physical education classes." JSTOR Vol 77, 2003
