The University of Canberra’s Academic Skills Center (ACS) helps Australian students to see how critical thinking translates to their learning opportunities across the disciplines. Whether the student is engaged in a course in geology or one aimed at improving their reading skills, they see how categorizing, explaining and evaluating are examples of the critical thinking skills needed to succeed.   Their ACS website reminds students: “Critical thinking as a generic skill for life. The skills that you develop at university in critical thinking will support you in your future professional lives. Professionals constantly need to make decisions based on critical thinking, to evaluate processes and outcomes, and to reflect upon their practice.
