Extension, Adult Education & Evening Division Schools

Training for critical thinking has become an increasingly important focus of extended education, distance learning, adult and evening division programs. Deans of Extension, Adult Education and Evening Division Schools recognize that program quality demands identifying and enrolling the best possible students, and then educating them to become the best professionals and graduates they can be. They have adopted Insight Assessment testing tools so that their admissions program can identify applicants who have the strongest critical thinking skills and the desire to apply those skills. These candidates have outstanding potential to learn and to achieve to the maximum their talent permits.

It is clear that students must be willing and able to think critically. Insight Assessment provides a comprehensive range of critical thinking skills and dispositions tests. Each instrument has been calibrated to measure the reasoning skills of specifically targeted test takers.

Widely used in 2 year colleges, The Test of Everyday Reasoning (TER) is designed to measure the critical thinking skills of test takers in secondary schools, the first two years of post secondary education or of adults of all ages in the general public.  The California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) is used throughout the world to measure test takers' motivation to apply critical thinking skills in decision making and problem solving; it is calibrated for use with the general adult population including workers and working professionals at all levels, and for students in grades 10 and above.

Faculty value the ability to quickly and easily document the critical thinking of prospective or current undergraduate and graduate students.  The data gathered with the TER and CCTDI are valuable for admissions purposes, educational research, accreditation, learning outcomes assessment, curricular development and program evaluation.

Insight Assessment critical thinking tests rely on case-based scenarios to provide objective, valid and reliable standardized measures of these essential problem solving and decision making skills. Our cost-effective testing tools can be normed to comparable undergraduate or graduate programs. Assessment solutions are available through on-line testing or paper-and-pencil testing.  If you would like to discuss your testing needs or to learn more about the full range of our products, please use the Contact Us Form below.
