Business Critical Thinking Skills Test (BCTST)

an adaptation of the California Critical Thinking Skills Test for

Employers and Business Educators and Professionals

Getting the problem right and reasoning correctly to an optimal decision are two high stakes critical thinking processes. Good critical thinking results in a competitive advantage over less skilled decision makers. Now there is a statistically valid tool which measures these skills as manifested in business-related contexts: The Business Critical Thinking Skills Test. This case-based reasoning skills assessment tool is specifically designed to evaluate the critical thinking skills of business students and working professionals. BCTST Specs

The BCTST provides an objective measure of critical thinking skills applied to business and workplace, professional and workplace reasoning contexts. Using mini-cases and vignettes drawn from common business and workplace contexts, the 35 test items range in difficulty and complexity. Questions are presented in business contexts with all specialized information needed to respond correctly provided within the question. With business-relevant topics and, in some cases, with data presented in images and diagrams, the BCTST provides items that broadly represent reasoning ability required to be a skillful critical thinker in the business professions.

Skills test scores are reported on these BCTST scales: Analysis, Inference, Evaluation, Inductive reasoning, Deductive reasoning, Total Critical Thinking Skill. Qualified purchasers may preview the BCTST by ordering the BCTST Specimen Kit. The difficulty level of the BCTST makes this instrument appropriate for testing the critical thinking skills of mid-level and more expert professionals. In the workplace, use the Business Critical Thinking Skills Test to assess an individual's reasoning skills and to secure a thinking skills score as an element in a comprehensive employment application process. In educational settings, use the BCTST for learning outcomes assessment and to gather program evaluation, accreditation and research data. The BCTST is used by employers and educational institutions around the world.
